General Hamster Information

Hamsters are wonderful pets, nearly everyone has owned one at some point. They are horribly misrepresented as vicious, boring children's pets, but actually a correctly cared for hamster is  a rich ownership experience. So, here are five things you should know about hamsters.

1) Hamsters are mostly nocturnal, but they'll often get up early evening if they know it means some out of cage time.

2) Hamsters have poor eyesight.

3)  Hamsters are excellent escape artists.

4) Hamsters will only bite hard when scared or annoyed.

5) Syrian hamsters are strictly solitary, but some species of dwarfs may live happily in a pair or more.
